Updrades
Very simple upgrades would make this course and facilities one of the best in the state of Louisiana. The locker room on the men’s sides need a really bad face lift , lockers are too small, not stained properly, and sitting is no where to be found . Could easily add TVs in locker room , bench seating needs to be purple n gold , carpet LSU purple , lockers need to be of normal size look at ( BRCC, CCL) , tall lockers, not enough LSU graphics, a few tables would help , cleaning could be better.
Pro shop has nice merchandise, could use more woman’s clothes , sets of clubs , Andre does a great job, young men behind the counter are excellent. Tee times are difficult at times during early mornings on weekends. Three or four more tournaments should be added to include a guest to half of them . No husband wife tournaments or couple tournaments , which is pitiful they don’t recognize this , needs to be scrambles 9 holes one or two tournaments, and a couple 18 hole couple tournaments.
Restaurant should be open for Dinner at night at least 3 days a week with nice entree meals. Larger Restaurant is a must , sitting is impossible after a tournament.
Expansion is a must , separate the restaurant from the pro shop , locker rooms . A covered breezeway on second floor , that goes from the top of Restaurant to top of pro shop, locker rooms , bath rooms without having to walk outside similar to New Orleans airport from parking garage to main airport.
Course ,practice areas , putting areas , carts etc.. no safe place to store clubs during the week , no one to clean them or clean shoes . There is only 3 private clubs in the area , go check the other two out.
I love it out here , just need some additional equipment and upgrades . No big deal.
Home of the LSU Tigers
Had the opportunity to play the University Club, the private club that is the home of the LSU Tigers golf teams. Don't let private fool you - this isn't an uppity stuffy club. It's like the people around it - down to earth.
The course is quite long from the tips, but offers lots of options for tee boxes. The third hole is a 673 yard par 5 with an insane forced carry across the water. The bailout is a narrow fairway cut with high grass right. Not for the faint of heart.
Probably the neatest feature of the course is it's quartet of par 3 holes. All are tremendously challenging and picturesque.
We played on a Thursday. It was busy but not packed. The course itself is very nice, the shot values are good. The layout is nice. The grasses were a little thin, particularly in the chipping areas. Greens are slick but pretty true.
Overall I found the course to be a good test of a golfer's game. Novice golfers would be highly challenged here with the forced carries and OB on a few holes, but for intermediate to skilled golfers, it's a nice test.
